Tokha is a serene village situated 1½ kilometers north in the outskirts of Kathmandu city, the capital of Nepal. It is inhabited by 10,000 people. Most of the people in the village are farmers. The literacy rate of the village is lower than the national average of 60% and it is alarmingly low among the people of lower class. The Buddha Bhumi Buddhist Centre will help to literate those underprivileged people who do not have access to proper education.
Since the village is in a higher location than Kathmandu city, the view from here is very charming. The peaceful and calm environment of this village is very much suitable for the establishment of study, research and meditation center. The charming location will certainly help students and people in research to find out more about Buddha.
